We have been using the Patientrack system hospital wide to collect pt observation data and view it globally dependent on NEWS score severity.  This system removes, in the majority score errors and can be set to bleep us if a pt. scores above a set trigger so we can investigate deterioration as it happens.  This is incredibly useful to identify very sick pts. We are also using MEDICU but on a small portable laptop (we never used the palm pad devices but heard that they were not ideal) which also has the Patientrack system loaded onto it.  This means we can view deteriorating patients where ever we are in the hospital and keep track of our discharged pts out of the unit which helps to some extent prioritising work load.
